Senator Haliru Jika, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, has emerged as the New Nigeria People’s Party’s governorship candidate in Bauchi State.

Jika, who currently represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the Senate, emerged unopposed after Yusuf Ibrahim voluntarily dropped out of the race.

The NNPP’s election chairman, Yusuf Kofar-Mata, flanked by his secretary, Mark Usman, stated that the party’s national headquarters sent them to Bauchi to conduct the election.

In a voice vote, the delegates unanimously chose Jika as their candidate.

“Following the receipt of Yusuf Ibrahim’s letter of withdrawal from the race, and since Sen. Haliru Jika is now the only aspirant in the race, I hereby affirm him as the NNPP’s gubernatorial candidate in Bauchi State,” he said.

“We have 630 delegates here who have also confirmed and supported Haliru Jika as the gubernatorial candidate.”

“I’d like to thank INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) officials for coming to observe everything we’ve done here today.”

Senator Jika, a former Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to the delegates and the NNPP for the honor of allowing him to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming election.

“The program of today is in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the provisions of the electoral act, which was recently amended by the National Assembly and subsequently accented by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Jika said in a brief interview with journalists.

“We have come here as a party to do the affirmation and substitution in accordance with the document.”

“We have laid the groundwork for what is about to happen in Bauchi today.” A revolution, a generational shift, and agitation for youth and women are on the horizon.

“You will agree that youths and women are the backbone of any society, and we owe it to them to support and mobilize them so that Nigeria and Bauchi state can have good governance.”

“I have put the entire youths in the state in perspective, and I have seen how governance is delivered in the state, and we will soon come out with our blueprint, a working document that will work for Bauchi state,” he said of his plans for the state’s youths.

Jika, who lost his bid for the All Progressives Congress ticket to a former Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, and defected to the NNPP, expressed confidence that he will be the next Bauchi state governor.

“This will begin with security, education, health, tourism, mining, and so on.” We will present that action plan to the people of Bauchi state very soon.

“I am confident that I will win. “I’m an engineer, and I calculate every risk before I take it, and this risk is worthwhile, so I’m taking it,” he explained.
