JUST IN: CENTRAL BANK INCREASES MONETARY POLICY RATE TO 16.5%

Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele has announced that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has increased the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) to 16.5%, up from previous rate of 15.5%.
Emefiele announced this in a press conference at Abuja on Tuesday afternoon.
He also announced that the newly designed naira notes of N200, N500 and N1,000 will be unveiled during the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
