Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the people of Lagos to never stop praying, offering support, and remembering the families of the armed forces and the fallen heroes who gave their lives to ensure the safety and tranquility of their nation.

At the interdenominational divine service for Year 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, with the subject “Honouring Sacrifice (John 15:14),” conducted on Sunday at the Chapel of Christ The Light, The Secretariat, Alausa, the governor made the call.

A wide range of people attended the service, including members of the Nigerian Legion, the Armed Forces, commanding officers of Lagos State, families of the fallen heroes, permanent secretaries, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), religious leaders, and Christians.

At the Lagos State Government-organized event, Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by its Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo, stated that the occasion presented the chance to remember the fallen heroes as they paid the ultimate price by giving their lives in defense of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

“We are gathered here in the presence of God and in thanksgiving to Him as we remember our fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice while preserving the unity and territorial integrity of our nation.

“Today, the government and the good people of Lagos State are united to appreciate the sacrifice of the departed; to pray for the continued repose of their souls; to remember their families left behind as well as those who have become incapacitated (one way or the other) as a result of injuries sustained in the war front.

“This occasion also presents the opportunity for us to remember in our prayers members of our Armed Forces who are sacrificing so much to keep the country safe against evil forces across the country.

“I wish to call on all the good people of Lagos State to continue to support members of our Armed Forces and their families. Let us always remember them in our prayers so that God Almighty will continue to grant them victory in Jesus mighty name. Amen.”

The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Pastor Daniel Olukoya, the guest preacher, encouraged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice in order to live in a country of which they can be proud.

The purpose of the ceremony, according to Pastor Olukoya, who was represented by Pastor Ladedoja Abiodun, Assistant General Overseer of MFM, was to honor and celebrate the fallen heroes who paid the price for a better future and protected the nation from both internal and external attack.

He asked Nigerians to keep praying for both those who are currently serving their country and those who have passed away while serving it.

During the celebration, which included prayers, praises, and gratitude, Brigadier-General Adegoke Adetuyi, the Commander of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, read the Bible.
