Tantita Security Services Limited (TSSL) successfully intercepted the MT Kally, an ocean-going vessel involved in the illicit transfer of stolen crude oil off the coast of Bayelsa State, as part of a substantial crackdown on oil theft.

This operation took place on Friday night and was conducted in cooperation with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

As investigations into the illegal operations continued, the ship’s engineer, Promise Eze, and skipper, Adeboye David, along with collaborators from Bayelsa state oil towns, were held on board.

Tantita disclosed that there were allegations of crude oil theft from the offshore Sokebolou field in Bayelsa State by the crew and their local
llies.

Preliminary findings indicated that the vessel’s first manifold was in the process of being loaded before the joint security team intervened. During interrogations, Tantita’s Executive Director of Operations, Warredi Enisuoh, gleaned crucial information from Eze and Adeboye.

The detained individuals disclosed that the vessel had been mobilized from Lagos with the intent to illegally transport crude oil from offshore locations in Bayelsa state.

Shockingly, they claimed their actions were facilitated by assurances from an unnamed superior, who asserted that security agencies along the shore had been compromised to enable their illicit activities.

While the duo refused to divulge the specific security agencies involved, they did mention working for a company named San-San.

Tantita reported that the vessel is currently anchored at a location of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited in Oporoza, Delta state, with the suspects still on board awaiting further legal actions.
