On Monday, the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC) played host to the representatives of the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service on a sensitization campaign for blood donation.

The hosting was in fulfilment of the Commission’s promise through its Chairman, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, to provide a platform for the organization to address and sensitize staff of the Commission on Blood Donation.

Mrs. Fabamwo had given the assurance recently during a courtesy visit of the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service, Dr. Bodunrin Osikomaiya, and her team to the Commission.

Addressing staff of the Commission during the advocacy campaign, the Head, Donor Education, Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service, Mrs. Temitope Balogun, who led the delegates, emphasized the essentials and benefits of voluntary blood donation.

She disclosed that apart from the fact that blood donation helps to save the lives of patients in need of blood transfusion during an emergency, it also has some significant benefits for the donors.

She enumerated some of the benefits of regular blood donation, including stimulation of more blood, reduction of the risk of heart disease, and giving donors the opportunity to know their health status.

Present at the sensitization campaign were the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Akinbode Obadina; the Director, Discipline and Exit Directorate, Mrs. Grace Olaopin; the Director, Career Management Directorate, Mr. Kehinde Yusuf; the Director, Admin and Human Resources, Mrs. Taiye Oguntona; and the Director, Policy, Programme, Support, and Monitoring Directorate, Mr. Bola Agbabiaka, amongst other members of the management team.
