The management of Lekki Central Mosque (LEMU) has refuted claims circulating online that alcohol was distributed during their recent Eid celebration.
The mosque issued a statement condemning a video shared by a content creator known as ‘Lekki Street Boy,’ which allegedly shows Muslim worshippers consuming alcohol to “wash down Salah meat.”
LEMU clarified that the video was recorded on the street, away from the mosque premises, and described it as “MISCHIEVOUS” and deeply offensive to the Muslim community.
The mosque emphasized that as an Islamic institution, it strictly follows Islamic teachings, which prohibit the consumption of alcohol, especially during sacred occasions such as Eid-el-Adha.
During their Eid celebration, Lekki Central Mosque adhered to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by distributing meat to the less privileged in line with Islamic tradition.
The mosque strongly denied any involvement in alcohol consumption or distribution at any time during the event.
The management reassured the public of their commitment to upholding Islamic values and principles in all their activities, condemning the video as a “MALICIOUS” attempt to misrepresent their celebration.
