In a major step to streamline logistics operations, ease traffic congestion, and enhance road safety, the Lagos State Government has announced the enforcement of an Electronic Call-Up (E-Call-Up) system for tankers and articulated vehicles operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor.
The policy will officially take effect on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Speaking during a recent interview on TVC News, Mr. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, highlighted the objectives and structure of the initiative.
He explained that all truck drivers entering Lagos to load or offload goods will now be required to register and schedule their movements through the E-Call-Up platform.
The digital system is aimed at coordinating truck operations, reducing illegal roadside parking, and minimising traffic disruption for other road users.
Giwa pointed out that Lagos residents lose an average of four hours daily to traffic congestion, which translates to an estimated ₦4 trillion in economic losses annually.
He attributed much of this to disorganised truck activities, including unregulated parking and disorderly loading/unloading along key routes.
Under the new system, tanker operators must upload their Authority to Load (ATL) and pre-book designated parking slots before arriving in Lagos.
The E-Call-Up platform will also collect travel and cargo data to facilitate efficient scheduling and allocation of parking spaces. These facilities will be equipped with essential amenities such as restrooms, kitchens, and electricity to support driver comfort and safety.
Giwa further revealed that the state has approved seven dedicated truck parks along the Lekki-Epe corridor to support the implementation of the system.
He emphasised that the policy follows over two years of intensive stakeholder consultations and forms part of a larger transportation reform agenda aimed at transforming Lagos into a smart, resilient, and livable city.
