NiMET PREDICTS THREE DAYS OF THUNDERSTORMS, HEAVY RAINFALL NATIONWIDE

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday, June 16, to Wednesday, June 18.
In its three-day weather forecast released in Abuja, NiMet indicated that early morning thunderstorms are likely in northern states such as Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba on Monday.
By later in the day, heavier rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to spread across other northern states, including Borno, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Katsina.
In the North-Central region, morning showers are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, as well as Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and Nasarawa states.
“Thunderstorms are also expected across the entire region later in the day.
Southern states such as Ebonyi, Abia, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River are expected to experience morning rainfall, with more widespread rain in the afternoon and evening across Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Edo, Delta, and other southern locations.”
On Tuesday, NiMet predicted a similar weather pattern, with early morning storms in parts of Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Zamfara in the North, and evening rainfall in Gombe, Kano, Sokoto, Katsina, and other areas.
In the North-Central region, early morning rainfall is expected in the FCT, Plateau, and Nasarawa, while evening thunderstorms are likely in Kogi, Niger, and Benue.
In the South, morning showers are forecast in Ogun, Ondo, Cross River, Rivers, and Lagos, with additional rainfall anticipated later in the day in areas such as Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom.
By Wednesday, early morning thunderstorms are projected to affect parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba, followed by afternoon showers in Gombe and Jigawa.
