Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, a relationship therapist known for stirring debate, has shared her thoughts on the challenges undermining modern marriages. In a recent interview with the media, she argued that over-communication and heavy social media usage are leading causes for the breakdown of many unions today.

She argues that the traditional community-based structures that once mediated marital disputes have lost much of their effectiveness in contemporary society. She further observes that women’s increased exposure and autonomy today can serve as both a gift and a burden many find it difficult to navigate their newfound independence while maintaining balanced and healthy relationships.

She underlined that a woman’s success can trigger insecurity in her husband not because of her accomplishments directly, but because they are perceived as a challenge to his masculinity.

She counseled women to embrace softness and femininity, even amid success, warning that when women become overly assertive or competitive, it can push husbands away sometimes driving them to seek solace elsewhere or even end the marriage.

In our generation, because I am working and earning money, even if I am quarreling with my husband, what do I need to go to my husband for? Once a woman becomes independent, they begin to rub shoulders with men.

Many believe that a woman’s success makes men insecure. But Blessing Okoro better known as Blessing CEO says the real issue isn’t success itself; it’s the masculine energy that often accompanies it. She argues that when women start earning and providing, they may unintentionally adopt traits traditionally associated with masculinity control, dominance, and authority that can unsettle their husbands .
