US EMBASSY, CONSULATE IN NIGERIA CLOSED JULY 15 TO HONOUR LATE PRESIDENT BUHARI

The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos have announced their closure on Tuesday, July 15, in observance of the national public holiday declared by the Nigerian government in honour of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The U.S. Mission to Nigeria made the announcement in a statement posted on its official X account on Monday.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in observance of the public holiday declared by the Nigerian government in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the statement read.

It further stated that all visa appointments scheduled for July 15 would be rescheduled, and affected applicants would receive updates with new appointment dates.

Consular operations are expected to resume after the public holiday.

The Nigerian government declared the holiday to honour former President Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital at the age of 82.
