The Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers over various allegations of misconduct and ethical breaches, in a renewed effort to strengthen internal accountability and uphold professional standards within the Force.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the review began on Monday, July 14, and will continue until Friday, July 25, 2025. The sessions are taking place at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The officers, drawn from different commands and units across the country, are appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) to answer to allegations ranging from professional misconduct to violations of internal regulations.
“The Force Disciplinary Committee is an essential internal structure responsible for reviewing and adjudicating cases of alleged breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations involving senior officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above,” Adejobi stated.
He explained that the committee is tasked with investigating disciplinary infractions, assessing evidence, and recommending sanctions in line with police regulations, with final decisions to be made by the Police Service Commission.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline, stressing that no officer, regardless of rank, would be spared if found guilty of misconduct.
He emphasized that the ongoing review is part of a broader commitment to promoting integrity, professionalism, and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The IGP noted that the Force remains determined to build a service-oriented institution governed by the rule of law and driven by transparency and ethical responsibility.
