The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced the temporary suspension of its online recruitment portal, as part of efforts to improve efficiency and accommodate the high volume of applications.
In a statement released on Wednesday night, signed by the Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. A.M. Jibril (rtd), the portal — https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng — will be inaccessible until Monday, July 21, 2025, when it is expected to reopen for public access.
According to the board, the brief suspension aims to ensure a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process across its paramilitary agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Immigration Service.
“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies,” the statement read. “We are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.”
The CDCFIB urged applicants to remain patient and assured that the upgraded system will offer a better experience once the portal is live again.
Since the recruitment portal of the CDCFIB went live on July 14, thousands of eager applicants have faced significant difficulties accessing and completing their applications.
Many reported repeated crashes, long load times, error messages, and unsuccessful submissions, despite multiple attempts.
For several users, the portal either failed to load entirely or froze midway through the registration process, causing widespread frustration and anxiety.
The overwhelming traffic appears to have strained the system beyond its capacity, leaving many applicants worried that they might miss out on the opportunity to join the paramilitary agencies.
Social media has been flooded with complaints and screenshots of failed attempts, with some accusing the board of poor technical preparation.
This led to mounting calls for the CDCFIB to extend the application window and address the system flaws—concerns the board now appears to be acting on with its temporary suspension of the portal.
