BY OWOLABI OLUWADARA
The Minister of Labor, David Umahi, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s transportation infrastructure initiatives have been equitably allocated across the six geopolitical regions of the nation.
He specifically highlighted the South East region, asserting that it is benefitting from its appropriate portion of these projects.
Umahi said in response to a social media post by one Mr Linus Anagboso (D-Big Pen) captioned: “The Politics of Asphalt: Why is the South East missing from the map?”

UMAHI: TINUBU HAS BEEN FAIR TO ALL REGIONS OF NIGERIA ON PROJECTS
In a declaration he endorsed in Abuja on Monday, Unahi stated, “I recognize that politics has permeated the atmosphere, and certain individuals have opted to mislead unsuspecting members of the public, portray themselves favorably as advocates for the populace, while willfully ignoring the significant and altruistic infrastructure advancements that Mr. President is executing nationwide.
“I have instructed all regional directors of the Federal Ministry of Works to return to various sites across the country to compile a comprehensive list of both inherited ongoing projects and new initiatives, so that Nigerians can acknowledge the extensive efforts that Mr. President is undertaking in every region, regardless of voting affiliations.
“Mr. President is employing equitable distribution of infrastructure to unify Nigerians and restore their optimism, and only those who are perceptive will discern the light of transformation in Nigeria.
“In specifically addressing this erroneous information and for the record, Mr. President has four (4) Legacy Projects that span the six geo-political zones, with the South East region prominently included in the third Legacy Project—Cross River-Ebonyi-Benue-Kogi-Nasarawa-Abuja—totaling 465 kilometers times two, comprising 231.64 kilometers times two and 231.64 kilometers times one, with an allocation of ₦445.8 billion already awarded and construction underway.
“Mr. President has already disbursed ₦108 billion. The event that transpired during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on 31/7/2025 involved a revision of that corridor from 118 kilometers times one to 231.64 kilometers times one for ₦445.8 billion.
“This deceptive writer chose to alter the narrative of my press briefing following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) discussion of the Tran Sahara Section 1 (Ebonyi state to Benue border – 123.64 kilometers at ₦445.8 billion), but intentionally labeled it the Oyo-Benue Border road to mislead and incite the unsuspecting public.
“I urge that he rectify the misinformation promptly, even if an apology is not forthcoming. ”
Where was the author when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR chose to address the South East equitably regarding road infrastructure, similar to other regions? Under his leadership, 90% of neglected projects, some contracted as early as 2013, have been reinstated and are currently in progress.
