Assailants whose identities remain unknown have attacked two siblings sharing the same parentage while they were engaged in renovations at their familial residence in Akunza, situated in the Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. This occurrence has left the family distraught as sympathizers express their concerns regarding the ongoing spate of homicides in the Lafia metropolis.

A close relative of the victims recounted that Cyril and his late younger brother, Edwin, enlisted several tilers and construction workers to attend to their property in a community named Akunza on Monday, September 1.

The source stated, “He explained that they were both present at the site while the workers were to finalize their tasks for the day. The workers departed, leaving them at the location.

“Suddenly, the assailants arrived, chanting their names, and attempted to force the door open. When they were unsuccessful due to the door being secured from within, they proceeded to the window and shot the younger brother first before turning the gun on Cyril.

“During the ordeal, Cyril managed to call their mother to inform her of the situation.

“Contrary to earlier assumptions, I can confirm, based on the brother’s testimony, that they were neither at the farm nor returning from one.

“They remained within the community, which he described as neither quiet nor secluded. They had neighbors and activities surrounding them. ”

In a related event, one Alhaji Sani was slain by alleged bandits at his home in Lafia. One of the purported assailants was apprehended and subsequently burned to death by neighbors who emerged in response to a series of gunfire. Residents of Lafia have conveyed their apprehension regarding the persistent assaults and killings of innocent individuals, stating that “the frequent violence and homicides in the state capital are alarming. ”
