The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday visited the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, at his residence in Abuja.
Although details of the meeting have not been disclosed, the visit is believed to be connected to the unfolding political developments in Rivers State.
The Media reports that loyalists of Governor Siminalayi Fubara seeking to contest seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly were recently disqualified by a screening committee.
The move has been seen as a sign of renewed tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.
There are also speculations that the governor himself may face obstacles in securing the APC ticket for a possible re-election bid.
Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who currently serves in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, had previously insisted that Fubara would not return to office.
