POLICE RAID, DISMANTLE ESN/IPOB CAMP IN ANAMBRA COMMUNITY

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully dismantled and obliterated a militia encampment affiliated with the Eastern Security Network and the Indigenous People of Biafra, situated in Aguluezechukwu within the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
The operation, which extended for over five hours, involved a police-led coalition of security forces, including personnel from the 302 Artillery Regiment, the Department of State Services, and the Anambra State Vigilante. The joint effort resulted in the expulsion of the militia members, the destruction of their camp, and the recovery of multiple Improvised Explosive Devices from the location.
This information was communicated in a press release issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who stated that the mission was conducted in the early hours of September 2.
Ikenga noted that the region has since been secured and remains tranquil, with ongoing surveillance and initiatives aimed at apprehending several of the secessionists who escaped from the site.
The announcement stated, “The Anambra Police-led Joint Security Force, Aguata, consisting of troops from the 302 Artillery Regiment, the 14 Field Engineer Regiment, operatives from the Department of State Services, and the Anambra State Vigilante (Agunechemba), executed a synchronized operation at an ESN/IPOB militia camp located in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area in the early hours of September 2, 2025.
“During the operation, which lasted for more than five hours, the militia members were effectively expelled, their camp was dismantled, and several individuals fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries. A white Lexus 470 SUV and numerous Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were also retrieved from the scene.
“The area has since achieved stability and remains calm as continued monitoring is in place to safeguard residents, while efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects who managed to escape.
“The Anambra State Police Command assures the citizens of Ndi Anambra of its steadfast dedication to combating criminal activities and reestablishing peace throughout the state. ”
The media previously reported that the Imo State Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Unit successfully disrupted a suspected IPOB/ESN terrorist camp in Nempi, Oru West Local Government Area on Sunday, leading to the detention of 29 individuals, including 25 males and four females, allegedly associated with the proscribed organization.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, revealed in a statement, “This action was initiated after the arrest of a critical suspect, Anukuru Nnana Emmanuel, a 25-year-old male last week in Mgbidi. His significant confessions enabled police operatives to identify and dismantle the camp.
“During the operation, several hazardous items were seized, including four pump-action rifles, two improvised revolvers, five homemade pistols, three AK-47 magazines, a Point of Sale machine, and 20 rounds of live cartridges, along with one white SUV and local bulletproof charms utilized by the criminal organization. ”
