During the incident, which occurred on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at about 2:30 p.m., the hoodlums attacked traders, damaged property, and attempted to invade a commercial bank within the market. They also targeted Mobile Policemen on guard duty, who repelled the assault and prevented the invasion of both the bank and the market police post.

Following a distress call, Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, deployed additional police personnel, including tactical squads, to the scene. The operatives swiftly dispersed the rioters, arresting 18 suspects in the act. The police restored normalcy, allowing traders and customers to resume business activities peacefully.

The suspects are currently in custody and under investigation, with further efforts underway to apprehend other culprits. CP Jimoh warned that violent attacks on police personnel and destruction of property will not be tolerated, urging Lagosians to respect law enforcement officers in the discharge of their duties.

The Command assured residents and business operators that the situation is under control and urged the public to go about their lawful activities without fear.
