EKITI GOV APPROVES N596M CAR, HOUSING LOAN FOR TEACHERS

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has sanctioned the allocation of N596. 6 million for the distribution of car and housing loans to 807 teaching and non-teaching personnel within the state’s public secondary schools.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, Michael Boluwade, announced in a statement on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of the recipients and elevate their morale.
Boluwade stated, “Out of the total amount approved for disbursement, N381.5m is earmarked for payment of car loan to 382 beneficiaries, while N215.1m will be disbursed as a fresh tranche of housing loan to 425 beneficiaries.

“The loans, which are in accordance with the new rate of 100 per cent increase earlier approved by the governor, will be paid to qualified personnel of the commission,” he stated.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for approving additional funding to supplement the revolving funds of the commission’s Loans Board in facilitating the new distribution rates.
He urged the recipients to utilize the funds for their intended purposes, reminding them that repayment will be managed through direct deductions from their monthly salaries.
It is noteworthy that Oyebanji mentioned during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration that his administration has enacted programs and policies that have favorably influenced workers’ welfare.
He highlighted various initiatives, including the allocation of N400 million in housing and vehicle loans to over 1,447 teaching and non-teaching personnel, the recruitment of 930 subject teachers for public secondary schools, the employment of over 1,500 primary school teachers and 48 education officers, as well as the approval of career advancement for primary school teachers to grade level 16.
Additional initiatives he enumerated included infrastructure enhancement, capacity development programs, and the approval and payment of the minimum wage, among others.
