LAGOS FIRE INCIDENTS: NIA PROMISES PROMPT CLAIMS PAYMENT

The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has expressed its heartfelt condolences to individuals, families, and enterprises affected by the fire incidents at Afriland Towers and Emab Plaza in Lagos on September 16.

Kunle Ahmed, Chairman of the NIA, remarked in a statement on Thursday that the association profoundly grieves the loss of lives and property, affirming its solidarity with the victims of the tragedy.

The Chairman conveyed that the NIA has pinpointed member companies that offered insurance coverage for the impacted structures.

He assured that losses incurred under valid insurance policies will be appropriately compensated by the respective insurers.

“The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) conveys its sincere condolences to all individuals, families, and businesses impacted by the unfortunate fire incidents that transpired at Afriland Towers and Emab Plaza.

“We mourn the tragic loss of lives and property and stand united with those who are in mourning and striving to rebuild in the wake of this distressing occurrence.

“As the overarching entity for insurance and reinsurance firms in Nigeria, we want to reassure all affected parties that we have recognized member companies which provided insurance coverage for the mentioned buildings.

“Losses encapsulated under valid insurance policies will be adequately compensated by the relevant insurance companies.

“The insurance sector remains steadfast in its commitment to fulfilling its promise of protection and financial recovery during times of crisis,” he stated.

Ahmed encouraged the public and business proprietors to regard insurance as an essential instrument for risk management and resilience.

He emphasized that the significance of being insured cannot be overstated in a world where unforeseen circumstances frequently yield extensive repercussions.
