CJTF PERSONNEL ARRESTED AFTER KILLING FATHER OF BANDIT LEADER IN KATSINA

The fragile peace in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State has been unsettled following the fatal shooting of a 60-year-old resident, Alhaji Ibrahim Nagode, by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Nagode, who lived in Na’alma village, was the father of a notorious bandit leader, Haruna Ibrahim, widely known as “Fada.”
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred as Fada was returning to the community under a recently negotiated peace accord between bandits and local leaders in Malumfashi.
Security sources disclosed that the area had been placed on high alert amid intelligence reports suggesting that armed bandits were regrouping in the vicinity.
“In a bid to prevent renewed attacks, joint troops were deployed to intensify patrols as a proactive measure to forestall any hostile activity,” one security official explained. However, the routine operation reportedly resulted in the fatal shooting of Nagode.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested all CJTF personnel involved in the incident.
Officials familiar with the development said authorities are closely monitoring the situation, amid fears that the killing of the bandit leader’s father could trigger retaliation.
They stressed the need to uphold the peace accord and prioritise dialogue to avoid further escalation.
Meanwhile, security operatives have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements in their communities.
