KOREDE BELLO DISCUSSES CHRISTIANITY, EMPHASIZING THAT ‘JESUS IS NO LONGER ON THE CROSS’

Singer Korede Bello recently shared insights about his Christian faith, focusing on the resurrection of Christ and his own spiritual journey from Islam to Christianity.
In an Instagram video, Bello challenged the common emphasis on Jesus’ crucifixion, stressing that Christ’s sacrifice is complete.
“Does Jesus still belong on the cross? Before you crucify me, know that I am a Christian, and Christ has already died for me. He has already been crucified, so there’s no need for that. Jesus never said, ‘Remember me on the cross.’ Am I saying the cross isn’t important? No,” he clarified.
Bello explained that this reflection came during a moment of prayer when he realized that Jesus is no longer on the cross but seated beside God the Father.
“I was praying and looking at the cross when it hit me—He’s no longer on it. When I think of Jesus, I think of my identity as seated right next to the Father. That’s where I am,” he said.
He emphasized that the resurrection is central to the Christian faith, citing Apostle Paul: “If Christ has not risen, then your faith is futile.”
Bello also revealed that he was born a Muslim and turned to Christianity after studying the Bible independently. “I was not born a Christian. I was born a Muslim. I had to start with the Bible myself—not for religious reasons, but for personal reasons,” he shared.
The musician expressed concern that many believers remain overly focused on the cross instead of the risen Christ. “Our faith and identity are in the Christ who has ascended and is right next to the Father. When we pray, we pray through someone who is not on earth or on the tree. The cross carried our sins—the old identity is gone. Staying there is like nailing Christ over and over again,” he said.
Bello encouraged Christians to prioritize love as the true marker of their faith, recalling Jesus’ teaching: “People will know you’re my followers by the love you have for each other.”
He also highlighted that communion is the real act of remembrance, celebrating both the sacrifice and the victory of Christ.
