Tanzanian music stars Juma Jux and Folex are celebrating their victories at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in Lagos, attributing the recognition to increased global exposure for African artists.
The pair shared their experiences at a stakeholders’ forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where music industry players examined AFRIMA’s influence on the growth of East Africa’s music industry.
Addressing participants at the event held at Urban by City Blue Hotel, Juma Jux, who clinched the East African Artiste of the Year (Male) award, described the honour as a major turning point in his career.
“Winning AFRIMA changed a lot for me,” Jux said, noting that the recognition has expanded his reach and visibility. “People who never reached out before now do. Performing on a stage viewed in more than 84 countries comes with a new level of exposure and responsibility.” He also urged closer collaboration between AFRIMA and Tanzanian government institutions to further support artistes through training, exposure, and knowledge exchange.

Also speaking, AFRIMA Associate Producer Victoria Nkong said the awards have evolved beyond celebrating talent to becoming a key development platform for creatives across Africa.
