Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has dismissed long-standing public perceptions about his personal life, insisting that he is not a womaniser but someone who loves deeply.

The award-winning singer made the clarification during an interview with Voice of Nigeria shared on Wednesday, where he spoke about fame, fatherhood, marriage, and the pressures that come with life in the spotlight.

“The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womaniser. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard,” 2Baba said.

Reflecting on fatherhood, the singer revealed that one of his biggest personal struggles has been balancing his demanding music career with raising his children. The father of eight said while he feels blessed, he sometimes regrets not spending as much time with them as he would have liked.

“I have eight kids now. I feel blessed and happy, but the sadness comes from the fact that I haven’t gotten to spend the type of time I should have spent with them collectively. It does something to me sometimes,” he said.

Despite this, he described his children as a constant source of pride and joy.

“They’re amazing, brilliant people. I just wish I was there more. It touches me from all corners,” he added.

2Baba also addressed criticism directed at his wife, Natasha, particularly claims suggesting that she is controlling or overly influential in his decisions. He dismissed such narratives as inaccurate and a product of public speculation.

“Everybody has a say in everybody’s business now. Sometimes people say very nasty things,” he said.

“You grow thick skin, but sometimes it gets to you. Reality is reality, she’s a brilliant woman, a strong woman.”

The singer further disclosed that contrary to public perception, he is naturally shy and reserved, explaining that his profession often compels him to project a different persona.

“My profession doesn’t permit me to be shy, but I’m actually a very shy person,” he said.

“Sometimes I just want to be alone and chill. Other times I want to hang out. I like nature; I have my moments.”

2Baba remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated music exports, with a career spanning more than two decades and numerous local and international accolades.
