Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to appoint an interim manager for the rest of the season following the dismissal of Thomas Frank earlier this week.

Frank was relieved of his duties with Spurs just five points above the relegation zone, prompting the club to move swiftly in a bid to steady their campaign.

According to BBC Sport on Friday, sources close to the club say Tottenham are confident of securing a temporary replacement before the squad resumes training on Monday.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round, Spurs now have a nine-day break before hosting rivals Arsenal in the north London derby on February 22.

The first-team squad has been granted a short break and is expected to return to training at the start of next week.

Club officials acknowledge that managerial options are relatively limited at this stage of the season, with a broader pool of candidates likely to become available during the summer.

As a result, Tottenham intend to install an interim manager for the remainder of the season, with plans to undertake a comprehensive search for a permanent successor at the end of the campaign.

However, the interim manager could yet emerge as a contender for the permanent role should results and performances improve markedly in the coming months.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a potential return to north London. Pochettino is currently in charge of the United States men’s national soccer team, with his contract running until after this summer’s World Cup.

Another name under consideration is Roberto De Zerbi, who recently parted ways with Olympique de Marseille by mutual consent.

As Spurs brace for a decisive run of fixtures, including the derby against Arsenal, the immediate focus remains on restoring stability and steering clear of the relegation battle before making a long-term managerial decision in the summer.
