OGUN GOVT URGES TRADITIONAL RULER TO COMPLY WITH ANTI-LAND GRABBING LAW

The newly installed Onisale of Gbokoto in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Tajudeen Olukunle, has been advised to operate strictly within his jurisdiction to promote peaceful coexistence within and around Gbokoto land.

The charge was given by Governor Dapo Abiodun during the installation ceremony and presentation of the Staff of Office to the monarch at the Yewa North Local Government Primary School Playing Ground in Gbokoto-Isale.

The governor emphasized that respect for constituted authority and strict adherence to the rule of law are crucial for maintaining peace and fostering development in the community.

Represented at the event by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor noted that the development and progress of Gbokoto land remain a priority for his administration.

He also warned the monarch against involvement in land-grabbing activities, urging him to support the state government’s ongoing campaign against the menace by putting measures in place to prevent such acts and other related crimes within the community.

In his goodwill message, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle—represented by the Eselu of Iselu, Oba Akinyemi Akintunde—called on the people of Gbokoto to embrace unity and harmony, stressing that collective effort would drive sustainable development.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Yewa North Local Government, Olusola Akinbode, congratulated the monarch and urged residents to support him in ushering in a new era of purposeful leadership.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Olukunle thanked Governor Abiodun for approving his installation and appealed to sons and daughters of Gbokoto to support his reign. He pledged to work towards promoting peace, stability, and development in the community.
