The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, is set to vacate his position in Abuja on Friday (today), ending a five-month tenure that observers say improved the Nigeria Police Force’s public communication and digital engagement.

Vanguard gathered that a senior police officer has been selected to take over the role, although the individual’s identity had yet to be disclosed as of press time.

Sources at the Force Headquarters said Hundeyin had already been informed of the development and was preparing to hand over the responsibilities associated with the strategic communication office.

As of about 8 p.m. on Thursday, he was still carrying out his duties as Force spokesman. An official announcement from the office of the Inspector-General of Police is expected on Friday.

Hundeyin was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025 when he held the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had been promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Before moving to the Force Headquarters, Hundeyin served as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, where he became widely known for his proactive engagement with the media and active use of digital platforms to communicate police activities.

Security analysts note that his communication approach and strong presence on social media expanded the Force’s interaction with the public and strengthened its digital communication strategy.

Hundeyin holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and a master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
