LASBCA, LASEMA, OTHERS VISIT LOCATION OF COLLAPSE BUILDING AT OGBA FOR ASSESSMENT

Officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other relevant responders, have visited the site of the collapsed four-storey building located on Adu Street in the Aguda area of Ogba, Lagos, to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
According to a statement issued by the Agency, the building, which accommodated both residential occupants and a private school, collapsed on Monday, causing concern within the neighbourhood. However, no casualties were recorded as students, staff, and other occupants had exited the building before the incident occurred.
LASBCA noted that preliminary observations indicate that some form of building activity had been ongoing at the property before the incident, noting that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
The agency urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with relevant authorities as technical assessments and necessary safety procedures continue at the site.
However, as part of precautionary measures, the officials advised occupants of nearby buildings to vacate their premises temporarily while safety assessments are conducted on surrounding structures to determine their condition and structural stability.
LASBCA also reiterated the importance of engaging appropriate regulatory processes and maintaining regular communication with building control authorities when carrying out construction, renovation, or structural modification works.
The Agency also informed that further updates will be provided as the investigations progress.
