Popular social media personality, King Mitchy, has issued a public apology to Nigerians after facing criticism over a recent live video where she admitted to taking a substance during the broadcast.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, Mitchy said she had taken time to reflect on her actions and recognised that what she did was wrong, particularly because many young girls see her as a role model.
“I’m ready to take responsibility for my actions. Over the past few days, I’ve reflected on my behaviour and I know that I was wrong,” she wrote.
She acknowledged that taking the substance during the live video was inappropriate and expressed regret for disappointing her followers.
“I’m ready to take responsibility for taking that substance during the live video. It was very wrong of me because many young girls look up to me, and I know I disappointed a lot of people,” she said.
Mitchy also publicly apologised to Seyi Tinubu, whom she described as her boss. She explained that although she had apologised to him privately, she felt it was important to also apologise publicly since the incident happened in the public eye.
“My boss, ST Seyi Tinubu, I’m very sorry. I know I apologised privately, but because the disrespect happened publicly, I feel the need to apologise publicly as well. I’m truly sorry, sir,” she said.
She also apologised to the Ooni of Ife for bringing his name into the controversy.
“To the Ooni of Ife, I’m very sorry for mentioning your name in this matter, daddy,” she added.
Mitchy further addressed activist VeryDarkMan, acknowledging his advocacy and expressing regret for previously confronting him.
“To VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you’re fighting for, you’re fighting for Nigeria and we can make Nigeria a better place. I’m sorry for coming at you like that. Maybe now I understand you better,” she said.
She concluded by noting that the activist needs more supporters rather than critics in the fight for a better Nigeria.
“You need more supporters, not people to fight you. I’m sorry, my brother. Thank you,” Mitchy added.
