FEARED CASUALTIES AS BRICK WORKERS TRAPPED IN PIT COLLAPSE IN KANO

Tragedy struck Ridawa village in Kano State after an unspecified number of brick workers were reportedly buried when a pit collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday.
The victims were said to be digging earth for brick-making when the pit suddenly caved in, trapping several of them underground. Fears are mounting that some of the workers may have died, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Rescue efforts are currently underway, with local residents and emergency responders working frantically to reach those still trapped beneath the rubble. As of the time of filing this report, some victims had yet to be rescued, raising concerns over their chances of survival.
The lawmaker representing the constituency, Sani Bala, confirmed the incident, stating that about 10 persons were believed to be trapped. He called for urgent government intervention to support rescue operations and prevent further loss of lives.
However, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the agency had yet to receive an official report of the incident.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as rescue efforts continue.
