Describing the attack as tragic, the governor noted that the victims were among those serving to protect lives and property in the state. “This is a sad incident. These are the soldiers who safeguard the residents of Kebbi, yet they lost their lives in such a manner,” he said.

He assured that the state government would cover medical expenses for the injured and provide support to the families of the deceased security personnel.

Idris also inspected affected units at the hospital before conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the area.

Details of the ambush remain unclear, though reports suggest the troops may have been targeted during an operation. Military authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
