Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims of deep divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the party remains united despite disagreements among some members.

Speaking on Wednesday after inspecting ongoing projects across the territory, Wike downplayed suggestions of “camps” within the party ahead of its forthcoming convention.

When asked about reconciliation efforts with rival groups, the minister said that while individual disputes are normal in politics, they do not signify a structural split in the party.

“I don’t know which camp you are referring to. There is only one PDP. It would be wrong to talk about another camp. I don’t know if any other camp exists,” Wike stated.

He acknowledged that some members have reached out to mend differences, but emphasized that these are personal reconciliations, not formal factional negotiations.

“Of course, some individuals may not be happy and have called to say ‘let bygones be bygones,’ but that does not constitute a faction. There is only one PDP now,” he added.

On the timing of party activities, Wike confirmed that the upcoming convention will proceed as scheduled, citing the strict timelines in the Electoral Act and INEC regulations for primaries.

Outside politics, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of key projects in the FCT.

Regarding how the FCT Administration is sustaining momentum amid nationwide funding challenges, he credited the support of President Bola Tinubu and a disciplined approach to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“It’s not just about money. Commitment matters. You can have all the money in the world, but without commitment, it achieves nothing. The momentum we’re seeing is due to the support of the President. When the leadership gives you backing, there’s no excuse for failure,” he said.
