APC CONVENTION: WHY FORMS WERE NOT SOLD TO CERTAIN ASPIRANTS – AMINU MASARI

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Convention Central Coordination Committee, Alhaji Aminu Masari, stated that individuals publicly raising complaints about being denied access to the party’s nomination forms ahead of Saturday’s national convention were attempting to destabilize the ruling party.
The former Governor of katsina State made this statement in Abuja on Thursday during the APC World Media Briefing, held ahead of the party’s 8th National Convention scheduled for Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026.
The briefing was attended by several top officials, including the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Kyamo; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee, Pius Ayim; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare; Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga; among other senior party dignitaries.
“APC is a responsible Nigerian party, and in accordance with the principle of federal character, all positions are zoned,” he explained when asked about reports that some aspirants were allegedly denied access to nomination forms.
“Those who came to purchase forms for positions allocated to their zones were given the forms. However, if someone from Zone B attempts to buy a form for a position zoned to Zone A, we view that as an attempt to create confusion.
“Who benefits from confusion? We must recognize how our country and party structures operate. Positions and working committee memberships are distributed according to zones.
“So, if you are contesting a position outside your designated zone, how can you claim you are being treated democratically? We suspect that such individuals may be agents seeking to destabilize the party. We will not allow that, and I believe no responsible Nigerian would support it.
“We have no issue with this matter. To our knowledge, no one has filed a case in court. We have not been served, but as a responsible party, we will take appropriate notice if we are.”
