LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMENCES NATIONAL POLICE DAY 2026 CELEBRATIONS WITH COMMUNITY FOCUS

The Lagos State Police Command has officially launched activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” The theme highlights the force’s commitment to community policing, fostering public trust, honouring fallen officers, and demonstrating the operational capacity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.
The week-long celebrations, announced by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi, will feature a series of programmes across Lagos State.
On Monday, 30th March, Area Commands will coordinate a Sanitation and Environmental Cleaning Exercise starting at 9:00am, while a Medical Outreach Programme will hold at Computer Village, Ikeja by 10:00am.
On Tuesday, 31st March, a Walkathon for Public Engagement and Awareness will take place, commencing from the State Command Headquarters, Ikeja GRA, to Maryland Junction.
Wednesday, 1st April will feature Public Sensitisation Campaigns on electoral violence, cultism, and other security concerns, alongside driver education programmes promoting safe driving practices.
On Thursday, 2nd April, the Command will engage stakeholders and present cheques to families of deceased officers, recognising their sacrifice and service.
The celebrations will culminate on Tuesday, 7th April in Abuja with a Grand Finale Ceremonial Parade and Tactical Display, showcasing the discipline and capabilities of the force.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, extended an invitation to the public, stakeholders, community leaders, and partner organisations to actively participate in the events, emphasising the role of collaborative efforts in enhancing trust, strengthening cooperation, and promoting sustainable peace across Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command urged residents to support the initiatives and join in the week-long activities aimed at deepening community engagement and public safety.
