APC DENIES INVOLVEMENT IN ADC INTERNAL CRISIS LEADING TO INEC DERECOGNITION

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the derecognition of African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders, Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as “entirely self-inflicted.”
Speaking with the media on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka rejected claims that the ruling party played any role in the development, insisting the opposition created its own challenges.
“As I’ve always said, we focus on our preparation and efforts. It is the opposition that remains preoccupied with what APC does,” Morka stated.
He further emphasized that APC had no involvement in the internal disputes within the ADC that prompted INEC’s decision.

“Even the recent move by INEC to derecognize the David Mark executive was completely self-inflicted. APC had no hand in that. We did not orchestrate any takeover of the ADC by that executive,” he said.
Morka argued that the crisis arose from the leadership’s disregard for the party constitution.
“They acted in total disregard of the rule of law and the party’s constitutional provisions on succession. When leaders bypass constitutional stipulations to assume control, consequences like this are inevitable,” he explained.
He added that those criticizing APC now were the very people responsible for creating the problem.
“This situation was manufactured by the same individuals now pointing fingers at APC. We are unconcerned with these accusations,” Morka concluded.
Earlier, INEC removed Mark and Aregbesola’s names from its portal as ADC national chairman and national secretary, respectively.
