ALAAFIN OF OYO DONATES HOSPITAL BEDS AND EQUIPMENT TO MUSLIM COMMUNITY

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has contributed hospital beds and medical equipment to a Muslim community in Oyo State.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Lukman Ajibade, the monarch said the donations are intended to save lives and improve healthcare access. The statement was released on Friday by the Alaafin’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaye.
The monarch emphasized that affordable healthcare is vital not only for individuals but also for the well-being of families, communities, and society at large.
He stated, “The health of individuals is closely linked to the health of the wider community, which in turn depends on the collective well-being of its members. Affordable healthcare ensures that families can manage medical expenses, plan for the future, provide for loved ones, and pursue education and careers without being overwhelmed by medical costs.”
Owoade further explained that healthy individuals strengthen their communities, helping prevent disease and promote overall societal well-being.
“Healthy communities are more productive, driving economic growth and prosperity. Accessible healthcare encourages early medical intervention and preventive care, with regular check-ups and early diagnoses leading to more effective treatment and lower long-term costs,” he added.
The Alaafin reaffirmed his commitment to the socio-economic development and welfare of his people.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Islamic scholar Daud Igi-Ogun thanked the monarch, describing him as a “visionary, proactive, and pragmatic leader with a heart of gold.”
The donation is part of a broader trend of traditional rulers in Nigeria supporting healthcare delivery, complementing government efforts by providing medical equipment, sponsoring health outreach programs, and assisting hospitals to improve access to essential healthcare, especially for underserved populations.
