PSG EXTEND LIGUE 1 LEAD AHEAD OF LIVERPOOL CLASH

Ousmane Dembélé netted twice—including a superb volley—to lead Paris Saint-Germain to a 3-1 victory over Toulouse on Friday, strengthening their hold on top spot in Ligue 1 ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool.
The Ballon d’Or holder opened the scoring with a brilliant strike and added a second from close range just after the half-hour mark. However, Toulouse briefly levelled through a gift of a goal following a costly error by PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.
Substitute Gonçalo Ramos sealed the win late on, ensuring Luis Enrique’s side remain at the summit of the French league, now four points clear of second-placed Lens, who face Lille on Saturday.

PSG, who still have a game in hand, will see their upcoming league match against Lens postponed to May to allow for adequate rest between both legs of their Champions League tie against Liverpool. The French champions host the first leg next Wednesday before travelling to Anfield for the return on April 14.
While retaining their European crown remains PSG’s top priority, they are also on track to secure a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title and their 12th in 14 seasons.
Toulouse, currently mid-table, will shift focus to their French Cup semi-final against Lens on April 21.
Luis Enrique rotated his squad for the match, resting several players returning from international duty, including captain Marquinhos and Portuguese trio Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and João Neves.
Dembélé, making just his eighth Ligue 1 start this season, made an immediate impact with his stunning opener. Toulouse equalised shortly after due to Safonov’s misjudgment, but the goalkeeper was quickly bailed out as Dembélé restored PSG’s lead following a headed assist from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The second half lacked intensity until Ramos added a third in stoppage time with a low strike from outside the box. The Portuguese forward now has 12 goals this season despite limited starts.
