Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he is no longer enthusiastic about pursuing a career in politics, noting that the experiences of other celebrities who ventured into the field have made him reconsider his ambitions.

Speaking during a recent Twitch livestream with streamer Davrel, Davido observed that many entertainers who transitioned into politics have struggled to succeed.

He explained that although he once had a strong interest in partisan politics, both his established legacy in the entertainment industry and the current political landscape have made him more cautious.

“Before, I wanted to go into politics, but honestly now, I see it differently. Considering the goodwill I’ve built, my name, career, and fan base, it’s a tricky move. The reality is that many superstars who tried making that switch haven’t really found success,” he said.

“I feel like if you’re a politician, then that’s your calling—it’s a profession on its own,” Davido added.
