PETER OBI PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE NOLLYWOOD STAR ALEXX EKUBO

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has mourned the death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, saying the loss has thrown Nigeria’s entertainment industry and fans into deep sorrow.

In a statement posted on X on Friday, Obi said he received the news of the actor’s passing “with sadness,” describing Ekubo as a gifted young talent whose death has left millions of admirers grieving.

“I received with sadness the heartbreaking news of the passing of young and talented Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, whose death has left the Nigerian entertainment industry and millions of admirers across the country mourning,” Obi stated.

He extended condolences to Ekubo’s family, friends, colleagues in Nollywood, and fans, noting that the actor made meaningful contributions through his craft. Obi said he was speaking on behalf of himself and all who appreciate the role of young creatives in national development.

According to him, the tragic development serves as a reminder of how fragile life is and highlights the importance of living with compassion, kindness, and purpose.

Obi also prayed for strength and comfort for the late actor’s family during the difficult period and asked God to grant Ekubo eternal rest.

Ekubo died at the age of 40 following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer. His family confirmed that he passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Evercare Hospital in Lagos. Since the announcement, tributes have continued to pour in from actors, celebrities, and fans across social media.
