KANO SINGER RARARA REQUESTS JUDGE DISMISSES N10 MILLION LAWSUIT AGAINST HIM
By Adeniyi Onaara
Rara, a political singer from Kano, sought on Tuesday that a High Shari’ah Court sitting in Rijiyar Zaki dismiss a matter brought before it by businessman Muhammad Ma’aji accusing him of failing to pay money totaling more than N10 million.
Rara’s attorney, G. A. Badawi, informed the court during the resumed hearing before Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya that the lawsuit has no foundation and should be discarded as a result.
He continued by saying that they had sent a written answer to the complainants and the court, but the prosecution insisted that they only received it as the court was ready to convene.
The complainant, Muhammad Ma’aji, told the court that he has all evidence documented in writing to support his claims.
He claims that despite having a business relationship with Rara since 2021, he has not yet been paid.
Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya commanded the prosecution attorney to respond in writing to both the defense attorney and the court.
The matter was postponed until May 12 for a second hearing by Justice Halhalatul.
