TROOPS UNCOVER OIL BUNKERERS CAMP IN IMO, DELTA
As part of their campaign against saboteurs of the oil sector in southern Nigeria, Nigerian Army troops discovered oil bunkers in the states of Imo and Delta.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Wednesday that 343 Artillery Regiment soldiers engaged in anti-oil theft operations on August 28, 2023, broke up an oil thieves’ camp in Obokofia Community, Imo State.
He claimed that during the raid, the watchful troops discovered 13 Jerry cans and 15 bags of illegally refined automotive petrol oil (AGO) hidden in the camp.
Two pumping units, three generators, a hose, and a toolbox for breaking into oil pipelines were also purportedly found by the forces.
According to Nwachukwu, Delta State’s 3 Battalion soldiers cracked down on an operational illegal oil refining complex at Enokora Community in the Burutu Local Government Area on August 28, 2023. The location contained three cooking ovens and six reservoirs.
According to the Army spokesperson, who was acting on reliable information, troops engaged in anti-oil theft operations on August 29, 2023, discovered a wooden boat hidden in the creeks of Egbema West in the Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State that was carrying 110 sacks of illegally processed AGO.
In the same general location, the watchful troops simultaneously stopped two vehicles carrying 18 bags of AGO that had been illegally processed.
In order to strengthen ongoing efforts to stop economic sabotage in the nation, the Army pleaded with members of the public to report any suspected acts of sabotage or criminality to security services.
