OGUNBOTE VOWS TO HONE SHOOTING STARS’ ATTACK
Shooting Stars dead coach Gbenga Ogunbote has said he will continue to hone the attackside of the team’s game as the 2023/24 NPFL season progresses.
Despite his wards’ 3-1 victory over enterprising Doma United FC of Gombe, the experienced tactician, though expressed satisfaction with the improvement so far, admitted that there was still room for improvement.
“If a team scored three goals, even if we have not played well, you still need to give us some kudos. We are coming up gradually in this aspect, it does not mean we have gotten a perfect solution.
“We will keep training and retraining, making sure that the art of goal scoring continues. The essence of the game, is to score goals and prevent goals from being scored, so if we can score and prevent the opponents from scoring, I think the attackers have done very well”, he. Said.
The Oracle, as the gaffer is fondly called, defended goalkeeper Ovunda Darlington over the goal scored by the visitors, stressing that the ball was deflected into the net by one of his defenders.
“To many people, the keeper has no excuse, but the goal he conceded, he has to be excused because it was a deflection”.
The former Sunshine Stars and Rangers International of Enugu coach, hinted that his team will continue to work hard in winning matches both at home and away, stating that for a team, aiming to win the league, wining matches anywhere must be the priority.
