OYO SET TO SCREEN PLAYERS FOR FEMALE FOOTBALL TEAM
The Oyo State Government on Wednesday said it would soon embark on an initiative to identify and nurture young talents for its female football team.
The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, stated this in a statement in Ibadan, the state capital.
She said, “The screening exercise, which is to commence on Tuesday February 6, will take place in the seven geo-political zones in the state. The screening exercise for Oyo zone will take place on Tuesday at Durbar Stadium, Oyo, between 9am and 11am, while Ogbomoso zone will be held at Soun Township Stadium from 1pm to 3pm same day. At Kisi zone on Wednesday, February 7, the screening holds from 9am to 11am.”
Adegoke said for Saki and Iseyin zones on February 7, prospective players will be screened at the Saki Township Stadium and Iseyin Township Stadium.
“Similarly, the Ibarapa zone would take a queue for the screening at Methodist Grammar School, Igboora and Eruwa Township Stadium on Thursday February 8,” she added.
The Ibadan zone screening will take place on February 17 at Ikolaba High School, Ibadan.
The commissioner commended Governor Seyi Makinde for supporting sports development, adding that the programme aligned with the long-term vision of his administration to establish a robust developmental team, and identify talents from the state.
