FLOOD: TAKE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES, NEMA URGES RESIDENTS OF LAGOS COMMUNITY
Residents of the Command area in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have been advised to use alternative routes to their respective destinations due to the early morning rain that caused floods on major roads.
The downpour which started around 2 am and 5 am in some areas and spread across the state lasted till a few minutes before 10 am on Tuesday.
Residents of the Command area were also cautioned against using the Command bridge because it has been submerged by the flood.
The Lagos Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Authority, Ibrahim Farinloye, stated this in a statement issued Tuesday morning.
He also noted that joint teams from NEMA, the Fire Service, and the Police are actively engaged in rescuing trapped individuals from the affected area.
“The residents of Command Area are urged to take alternative routes by avoiding Command and the near areas as flood have overran the bridge.
“NEMA, Fire Service and Police are working to get trapped people out of the area presently”
last year, one person was feared killed as a flood wreaked havoc at Gate House, Gold Crescent, Lagos State Development and Property Corporation Bungalow Scheme, Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos.
The residents expressed fear over flooding that continually threatened the safety of lives and property within the estate.
