JUST IN: DETAINED JOURNALIST, DANIEL OJUKWU REGAINS FREEDOM AFTER 10 DAYS IN CUSTODY
Nine kids from the school are missing, according to Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, even though it is unknown how many people were taken hostage.
Ojukwu, whose whereabouts were unknown to colleagues after he vanished last Wednesday with his phone numbers turned off, was allowed to go free again on Friday. It was later discovered, however, that he had been arrested and imprisoned in a police station for allegedly breaking the nation’s Cybercrime Act, which is sometimes criticised for being an instrument of censorship.
Ojukwu’s company said that he had been arrested for allegedly mismanaging about N147 million ($104,600) in finances involving a top government official. He was later sent to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

Confirming Ojukwu’s release on its website, the FIJ said: “Daniel Ojukwu, the FIJ reporter who was abducted by men of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector-General of Police, has regained freedom after 10 days in police captivity.”
“Ojukwu went missing on Wednesday May 1, his numbers switched off and his whereabouts unknown to colleagues, family and friends.”
Daniel Ojukwu is out.
