An improvised explosive device (IED) that was installed at the Buni Yadi Cattle Market in Yobe was neutralized on Friday by members of the Sector II Joint Task Force participating in the North-East Operation “Hadin Kai.”

The IED was put up by suspected Boko Haram terrorists with the intention of targeting vigilante members, according to Capt. Mohammed Shehu, the sector’s spokesperson, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu.

But regrettably, he claimed, another IED put at the market detonated, wounding a young person selling sachet water.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the state’s Police Command spokesman, confirmed the occurrence and added that the 12-year-old victim’s leg was fractured as a result of the explosion.

He claims that the victim is getting medical attention at a hospital for the injury.

He urged everyone to always report suspicious people or items to security personnel so that appropriate action can be taken.

About 54 kilometers separate Buni Yadi from Damaturu, the state capital.
