LAGOS GOVT DEPLOYS, TASK FORCE TO STREETS AHEAD OF PROTEST
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) members from the Lagos State Government have been sent into the streets in advance of the nationwide hunger and hardship protests on August 1.
On Wednesday, a significant number of RRS and Task Force police officers were visible on state streets as they conducted patrol drills.
Starting in Alausa, Ikeja, the operation moved through Ojota, Ogudu, Iyana Oworo, and the old tollgate until arriving at the third Mainland Bridge axis.
Additionally, some police were observed matching through the streets of Lekki to the Lekki Tollgate area.
This comes as Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, urged Nigerians on Wednesday not to participate in the planned statewide protests in light of the country’s economic woes.
The call was made by Akume, who stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working hard to address the numerous issues facing the country at a news conference in Abuja.
