PROJECT “FLAG UP LAGOS” WILL FOSTER CIVIC UNITY – SPECIAL ADVISER

The Special Advisor to the Lagos State Governor on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, has praised the official launch of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) Alumni Project “Flag Up Lagos” campaign, stating that it will foster civic pride and strengthen civic unity.
The campaign was recently revealed at the Conference Room of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Secretariat, Alausa lkeja. It was supported by the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy as well as the Office of Political, Legislative & Civic Engagement.
Afolabi expressed further gratitude for the initiative and stated that it is part of a larger effort by the Lagos State Government to involve its citizens and is consistent with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s agenda of increased focus on social inclusion.
He continued by saying that the project will encourage Lagosians to honor their common history and proudly wear the state’s colors, which represent the advancement and unity of the State.
During the Office-scheduled visit to the Green and Red Chambers of the National Assembly during their plenary sessions, Afolabi pledged to further the project by presenting it to the Members of the National Assembly representing Lagos State.
Speaking about the significance of the project, Funmi Omoyele, an alumni of LJLA and campaign coordinator, said that the teams’ international policy trip to India, where the Indian national flag was flown everywhere they went, sparked their intense desire for the project.
She continued by saying that the initiative, which would be carried out in stages, will greatly aid in improving Nigeria and bridging the divide between the populace and the government. She reaffirmed that, as symbols of love, unity, and patriotism, the Nigerian and Lagos State flags must be embraced.
The symbolic raising of the Nigerian and Lagos State flags was the day’s high point.
The Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olumide Sogunle, and the Office of Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore, were also in attendance.
