FORMER HOUSE OF REPS MEMBER, JOSEPH HARUNA KIGBU, KIDNAPPED BY BANDITS
Joseph Haruna Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives, was kidnapped by bandits on Monday night while he was on his way to Jos.
Around 6:00 p.m., an attack took place between Nunku in Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, and Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Dr. Kigbu’s police escort tried to thwart the kidnapping, but was shot dead by the attackers during a gunfight.
One source claims that the robbers’ intermittent firing scared nearby drivers.
The incident took place at a site that has historically been a center for criminal activity, according to local residents.
At the time of this story, calls to the Nasarawa State Police Command spokesman were not returned, therefore it was impossible to confirm.
