LASBCA SEALS OVER 10 BUILDINGS AT VICTORY ESTATE, EJIGBO FOR NON COMPLIANCE
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed more than 10 buildings at Victory Estate in the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) for failing to adhere to the State’s building codes and regulations.
As explained by the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, many of the building owners or developers in the Estate lack approved building plans from the State Government, which violates the State’s building codes and regulations.
Oki further mentioned that before sealing the buildings for non-compliance, LASBCA had previously issued several contravention notices to the owners/developers to enforce compliance, but none of these efforts succeeded, leading to the seal-up.
The General Manager also urged building owners/developers to utilize the ongoing Amnesty Programme by the Lagos State Government, implemented through the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), to regularize their building documents, emphasizing that the program ends on December 31, 2024.
He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of its citizens by ensuring strict monitoring, supervision, and enforcement of the State’s building codes and regulations.
“Bringing sanity to the Built Environment is paramount to the State Government and illegality will not be condoned as contraveners will be meant to face the full wrath of the law to serve as deterret to others.
