ADAMAWA EMIRATE SETS UP COMMITTEE FOR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo Musdafa, has appointed a 19-member steering committee to oversee the commemoration of the Fombina Royal Dynasty’s heritage.
The Fombina Dynasty represents the Adamawa Emirate, a prominent first-class kingdom in Adamawa State, with the Lamido serving as the chairman of the state’s Council of Chiefs.
The commemoration aims to highlight the emirate’s role in Nigeria’s historical development since its founding in 1809.
The committee was inaugurated on Saturday at the Lamido’s palace council chamber in Yola, where the monarch stated that the initiative is being led by the Royal Historians Foundation of Nigeria in collaboration with the Adamawa Emirate Council.
Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, who serves as both chairman of the committee and grand patron of the Royal Historians Foundation of Nigeria, assured full dedication to the project.
Key activities planned for the event include a book launch on the Fombina Dynasty, the Lamido’s Crystal Jubilee, a seminar on 19th-century scholarly contributions, a museum exhibition, and a horse racing competition.
The committee consists of traditional and academic leaders from Northern Nigeria, including co-chairman Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, deputy chairman Malam Mustafa Aminu, Galadima Adamawa, along with senior traditional rulers, historians, and scholars.
